How are all of these products made? 

A person called a mold maker spends many hours creating a mold from a real wood product. Lets take a Faux Beam for example. A real wood beam is brought in from a variety of sources and prepared by sandblasting or hand hewning it so it looks like something, you the customer would want to put on your ceiling. After the beam is prepared a liquid silicon rubber mold is cast of the beam. After the silicon drys it is removed and ready for production.

Faux Products are made of Polyurethane foam which is poured into a silicon mold where it expands to fill the mold very tightly. On most products a press is used to hold the foam under pressure so it expands into every crack and crevice.  Mold release is used so the polyurethane and the mold do not stick to each other. The finished product is a piece that looks as real as the real thing.

We have a lot of customers that question the pricing of our polyurethane products. They think it is an easy process and besides, its only foam. But in fact foam is very expensive and the process of mold making and casting products takes a lot of man hours. 

The thing we point out to our clients is it still would cost you 2 to 3 times as much if you were to put in real beams. Also the splintering twisting and pests that come along with real beams will keep costing you for many years to come. Once you install a Faux Beam, your finished nothing but enjoying your home is left for you to do.
